101. What Happens When Boredom, Authenticity, and Innovation Intersect: Garance Doré and Emily Yeston

interview by Nada Jones

Garance Doré is an internationally celebrated writer, illustrator, media creative, and author of the New York Times bestseller Love Style Life. She is the co-founder and creative director of the made-in-France skincare collection Doré, which she launched with Emily Yeston. Since 2006, Garance has created a unique blend of photos, videos, illustrations, and essays featuring her distinctive perspective, published on her eponymous lifestyle platform. She was the co-recipient of the CFDA Eugenia Sheppard Media Award in 2012 and has been profiled in many international media outlets.

Emily Yeston is the co-founder and CEO of Doré. She and Garance worked closely for five years, building Garance's eponymous platform into a thriving digital media property. In 2016, Emily became Garance's business partner and continued to be instrumental in their media platform with an ever-increasing international audience. In 2020, Emily partnered with Garance to launch Doré to bring clean, gentle, and effective French skincare with a focus on sustainability and inclusivity to everyone.

In this episode, Nada chats with Emily and Garance to discuss everything from building Doré to their business partnership to running a popular lifestyle platform. They go deep, talking about how, after a not-so-silent retreat and a pandemic pause, the duo ventured into the pharmacy skincare space. With Garance's openness and transparency, alongside Emily's intuition and logic, it's no surprise that Doré has found success as an essential, simple, and trusted skincare brand.
